Life
1990
Black Marker on Paper

I discovered early in life how important it is to live everyday like if it is your last. I think life is the most beautiful thing in this universe, and that our purpose is to live it to its fullest. This drawing is about that.

A Friend in a moment of Solitude
1990
Pencil & Carbon on Paper

A simple as this drawing may seen, it was a breakthrough for me, marking the difference between my previous style and the new one shown here. This was the beginning of a new technique, a new form of expression, and of a new subject matter.

Collage Self-Portrait
1989
Magazine Collage

The story behind this collage was that I had an assignemt due in class about "doing something to describe yourself" in a socio-humanistic class in high school. I had completely forgotten about the assignment until 5 minutes before class. I ran into the library, took a copy of OMNI Magazine, borrowed scisors and glue from the librarian, and started cutting away like crazy and this was the result of those 5 minutes of madness. I will never forget!

Cha Cha Chá
1994
Blue Pen on Paper

I was sitting down watching the Boston University Dance Club learn the Cha Cha Cha. At the beginning of a song I got inspired, borrowed a pen, pulled out a piece of paper, and had finished this before the end of the song. The three structures represent each of the Cha Cha Chas (in form and style).

EyeWoman
1990
Pencil on Paper

After "A Friend in a Moment of Solitude" above, I was dying to try out something new but less dark, and what a better topic to try than the most beautiful thing in the universe, the woman? I still remember every stroke of the pencil I drew in this drawing ever since I did it.

Tri-Eye
1994
Pencil on Paper

This drawing just represents a complex mood I was experiencing while drawing it.

Lonely Despair
1994
Pencil on Paper

Do I need to say I was not feeling my best when I did this?

Slow Rumba
1994
Blue Pen on Paper

This one was done under the same circunstances as "Cha Cha Cha" above, but this time they were dancing Rumba.

Hand and Eyes
1990
Pencil on Paper

This drawing is a good example of how my "Eye" themes began evolving back in 1990.

Laying Woman
1989
Black Water Color on Paper

What's so special about this water-based painting? The woman was there, live, in front of me and about to move, so I had no choice but to capture her essence in 15 seconds of insanity.
